Through practical demonstration and discussion they explored how to cross the road safely, recognise safe places to cross and stay aware of their surroundings. The workshop supported the children in developing their confidence and understanding of how to make sensible choices to keep themselves and others safe in the community.

After completing their exciting topic on minibeasts, the children in Reception put their learning into action by making their own fruit kebabs, inspired by the delicious foods eaten by The Very Henry Caterpillar. They explored the colourful selection of fruits, carefully threading pieces onto skewers while talking about healthy choices, patterns and the life cycle of of butterfly. This hands on activity strengthened their fine motor skills and encouraged them to try new taste, all while making meaningful links to the story they have loved throughout the topic.

After completing their topic on Life Cycles and enjoying the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the children in Reception deepened their learning with magical visit to the Butterfly House at the Horniman Museum. Inside the warm tropical environment, the children were surrounded by butterflies of all sizes shapes and colours. They observed how butterflies move, feed and rest, making real life connections to the life cycle they have been learning in class. Many children were fascinated to spot caterpillars , chrysalises and butterflies at different stages of development, bringing the story and their science learning to life.

The performance thoughtfully depicted Jesus' journey to the cross and provided a reflective and meaningful experience for all the children in our school. Our Infant children had a wonderful time at the school disco. They enjoyed an afternoon of dancing, sharing snacks and drinks and celebrating together with their friends. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm and energy on the dance floor and we are proud of how brilliantly they presented our school community. Year 3 Trip to the Royal Festival Hall for the Orchestra Unwrapped Concert 23rd Mar 2026

Year 3 recently enjoyed an exciting trip to the Royal Festival Hall where they attended the Orchestra Unwrapped concert. The children travelled by train from Woolwich Arsenal to Waterloo East and were full of excitement throughout the journey. At the venue, they joined many other schools and experienced a live orchestra performance. The children listened to a range of classical music, learnt about different instruments, and had the opportunity to take part by singing along, including using British Sign Language (BSL). It was a wonderful, interactive experience that celebrated music, creativity and performance. This event is part of the Philharmonia Orchestra?s engagement programme, which encourages children to explore music and even create artwork inspired by the orchestra?s future, linking to their 80-year celebration. The children were beautifully behaved and represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Miss Du Bruyn for organising such a memorable and enriching trip. We are very grateful for the opportunity. Thank you as well to all the staff who supported and accompanied us on the day.

Year 1 took a trip to North Woolwich. We walked to see our local area to go with our Geography tonic of our local area and. We went on the ferry as part of our History topic looking at different travel and transport that is available. When we got to Victora Park, we looked at the different plants and trees around relating to our Science topic of plant. We then drew all the different things that we could see, different flowers, trees, buildings, and transport. We ended our time getting to have fun in the park before getting the ferry back to school.

Our Year 6 children recently took part in their residential school journey to PGL Grosvenor Hall, where they stayed for two nights. During their visit, the pupils had an incredible opportunity to explore the outdoors and engage in a wide range of adventurous activities. Using lamb hearts, the students carefully dissected and examined the different parts of the heart, including the chambers, valves, and major blood vessels. This practical investigation helped them understand how the heart pumps blood around the body and deepened their knowledge of the circulatory system. The experience encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and scientific thinking as pupils discovered how structure supports function in this vital organ.

Year 2 went to the Horniman Museum to learn about different cultures across the African Continent. The children had the opportunity to dress up in Tradition African clothes, play instruments and also explore toys from across Africa. The children also had the unique opportunity to visit the butterfly Garden where they learnt about how butterflies reproduce, what they eat and how they live. And to finish their day at the Museum on a high note, the children then visited the farms and gardens to see various animals up close which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Our Year 6 pupils attended a Junior Citizens workshop at Sutcliff park. The aim of the workshop was to helps pupils prepare for challenges they may face as they become young adults when travelling around London. The events consisted of a carousel of activities with up to ten different agencies delivering short sessions on topics relating to good citizenship. Pupils completed a circuit of activities in small groups, learning through experience and real-life risk situations that test their ability to make responsible decisions.
